	For Immediate Release
	Rallycross: Pure Automotive Fun:

If the dictionary had a definition of rallycross, it might read "a
slalom competition, in which a driver maneuvers a car around a course
marked with plastic cones on a lot or parking lot, against the clock."
To put it another way, a rallycross is a high-speed auto rally, done in
miniature at lower speeds, but with full-scale rally fun. These events
are open to any licensed driver -- no special competition license is needed

The Rally New York group will bring the fun of rallycross to Sullivan
County on Sunday, October 10 with the first Rally New York Rallycross.
The site will be a gravel, dirt and grass parking lot at the Concord
Resort in Monticello. Since driving this course is similar to motoring
around the dirt road sections of the upcoming Rally New York U.S.A.
(Saturday, November 6), some of the entrants in the rally are expected
to compete, according to Rally New York chairman Ivan Orisek.

All drivers in a rallycross must wear helmets and seat belts. (Both
automotive and motorcycle type helmets will be allowed, and some will
be available for loan at the event. Contact the organizers for
details.) Navigators are not needed, but any navigator or passenger
must also wear a helmet and seat belts. All cars must pass a safety inspection.

The entry fee is $125 per driver, and includes one ticket to a buffet
which follows the event. For further information, contact Rally New
York at 845-794-4096 or check their web site at www.RallyNewYork.com.

Media information can be obtained, and registration arranged, by
contacting the press officer, Tom Barker, at (203) 229-0718 or
ThomasVBarker@netscape.net.
