Rapidan Rally Announced September 22, 2001
NEDiv Coefficient 2 ClubRally

What: Rapidan Rally, a coefficient 2 ClubRally

When: September 22nd, 2001

Where: Oakland Acres, Orange, VA

Who: Brought to you by the Washington DC Region SCCA performance rally members

The Rapidan Rally is scheduled for September 22 at Oakland Acres, a large farm in Orange, VA. There will be one 5 mile stage incorporating 2 separate rallyX courses linked by wide open straights, forest roads, a couple very steep hills, some yumps and a small water crossing. We will run the same stage 3 times each in each direction.

It's a great opportunity for novice teams that have not been able to get on the start list of other rallies, offering them a low expense stage miles (no transits and only one service area so a service crew is not required) and a forgiving course allowing some leeway to make mistakes. It offers experienced teams a chance to test or tune and catch up on Divisional ClubRally points. Co-driver and communication skills will be tested as the course will be run blind as a twisty 5 mile super special.

The Rapidan Rally will be run according to the 2001 SCCA ClubRally rules with the following exceptions. All stages and transits will be on private property, therefore vehicle registration and insurance are not required for rallycars. Competitors and workers of the August 12 or September 16th rallyXs at Oakland Acres are not considered practicing (Exempt from Rule 7.1B)

The event headquarters and scrutineering are to be at the ClubHouse on the property.

Spectators are welcome and will be offered great vantage spots. Workers are needed. Experience not required. Please come.

Details, online registration and supplementals will be available soon at www.dcrally.com

Some photos of the property are posted at www.dcrally.com/oaklandpix.htm

The following day, Sunday, the Virginia MotorSport Club www.vmsc.org has a tentative rallyX planned at the same location. We hope to work with them to offer everyone who sticks around an opportunity to get behind the wheel.

Reply to this e-mail with your address if you'd like an entry form and supplementals mailed to you.

Hope to see you there,

Dave Shindle
Rapidan Rally Chairman
