Gail Truess is the top ranked woman driver in the SCCA's Michelin PRO Rally Series. She and co-driver Pattie Hughes compete in a Paul Truess-built 1989 Mazda 323 GTX in the Production GT class.

Gail started her PRO rally driving career in 1985 in an Oldsmobile Omega. In 1988 she finished second in the Central Division Rally Championship and third in National Runoffs. She was second in class at the Jamaican Esso International Rally. In 1991 Gail was a factory driver for the BMW/Skip Barber team in One Lap of America, and continued as a factory driver in 1992 for Subaru in the Winter Alcan 5000. In 1993 Gail won her class in the Jamaican National Rally. She competed in the PPG Neon Challenge in 1996 and 1997.

Debuting a new 4WD rally car in 1997, Gail placed sixth for the season in the competitive open class. The same year she placed tenth overall in the nation's oldest, toughest rally, the Lake Superior event formerly known as the Press On Regardless PRO Rally.

In 1998 Gail drove her Mazda 323 GTX to two top ten overall finishes, first a 7th overall at Ojibwe Forest and then 4th overall, first in Production GT, at the D&N Bank Lake Superior PRO Rally in Houghton, Michigan netting her 6th in Production GT for the year.

Gail, a professional driving instructor and member of the PPG CART Pace Car Team for the past six years, is also a dual business owner maintaining Rally Dynamics, a race related firm producing race and rally cars with her husband Paul, and the Automotive Consulting Team. For this second business, Gail and her partner consult for automotive manufactures for media events and sales training. She also participates in the production of training videos for the automotive industry.
