Sachs, Quaife On Board with Burmeister Engineering Rallysport 2000

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI -- Burmeister Engineering Rallysport announced today that they will will have some new companies partnering with them to make an attack on the SCCA ProRally Group 2 Championship. Sachs Automotive of America and Quaife America will both be on board for the 2000 season.

Sachs Automotive of America makes premier clutch systems and suspension components for competition as well as street vehicles. Says Robert Marble of Sachs, "We are really stepping up our involvement with the American motorsports market for the coming years." Of course, Sachs hasn't been dormant. In fact, one can find their carbon clutch systems and suspension components on many top Formula One and GT cars.

Quaife America is the stateside distributor of Quaife limited slip differentials. The differentials are very well known in competition circles as being the standard for limited slip technology. These components allow a car to drive both wheels in slippery conditions instead of always spinning one and losing power to the other, a must in the slippery road conditions common to performance rallying.

"I am so excited to be working with both Sachs and Quaife," stated Eric Burmeister, driver of one of the team's cars. "We will really be able to get the power to the ground through the Sachs clutch and Quaife diff, and the suspension should really let us keep it there!"

The SCCA ProRally Series is a "stage" or "perfomance" rally series that stretches across the nation. Sanctioned by the Sports Car Club of America and televised on SPEEDVISION, this form of motorsport is growing by leaps and bounds in the United States. Competitors race flat out against the clock for hundreds of miles on a course of backroads closed to public usage. A co-driver or navigator tells the driver where every jump, dangerous turn or other obstacle is to the hundredth of a mile. There is no practice and the pair has not even seen the road prior to competition.

The season starts in Atlanta, MI on January 28-29 with the Sno-Drift ProRally. This rally is known to be a true test of traction. It will provide a very interesting springboard for the rest of the season as it is the only rally run entirely on snow and ice.

Burmeister Engineering Rallysport is a two-car team of Volkswagen GTI's owned by Art and Eric Burmeister. Based in Michigan, the father/son team, along with co-drivers Randy Moore and Mark Buskirk, plan to attack the 2000 rally season with great improvements to their cars from 1999. Eric and Mark placed third in the 1999 Group 2 championship and hope to do even better in the new year.
