Championship Chase to Continue in World's First New Beetle Rally Car

Sand Springs, Oklahoma -- RealAutoSport, LLC will help the Sports Car Club of America ProRally Production Class-leading codriver, Dave Weiman, continue his championship quest at the upcoming Ojibwe Forest ProRally by teaming with the 2001 Production Class ClubRally National Champion, M. E. "Mad Mike" Halley, in the world's first New Beetle Rally Car. Weiman is not new to the RealAutoSport, LLC Rallye Team; he codrove the 'Son of RallyeTruck' at the 2001 Prescott Forest SCCA ProRally and then drove that truck to a Production GT class victory at RallyeSprint Oklahoma, an SCCA ClubRally event staged in late November 2001.

Halley's latest codriver had been riding with Donison Cup contender Jeff Field until their Toyota was severely damaged at the Maine Forest SCCA ProRally in July. Weiman brings an impressive autosport resume to the collaboration that includes a Senior Ranking in Lifetime Co-Driver points with 52 markers, an overall win at the 1980 Olympus Safari Rally in Washington riding with Rod Millen and a 6th overall finish as a driver at the 1974 20 Stages ProRally in Michigan.

Weiman said, "Mike and I have been close to teaming up several times in the last few years but it never came to pass. I'm looking forward to helping him garner his first ProRally Production Class event win in Bemidji, Minnesota. That result wouldn't hurt my championship plans a bit."

For Halley's part, teaming with a seasoned codriver -and driver- is sure to be a good experience. Halley said, "Dave rode with me during a couple of rallysprint laps at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit last year so I'm sure he has no concerns about my abilities behind the wheel. I'm counting on Dave to help get this 'no-event-wins' monkey off my back on a rally I consider my home event. I really love those Minnesota rally roads and especially this event!"

NewBeetle.org comes aboard as the newest sponsor to assist the RealAutoSport, LLC "StudBug" effort. Halley added, "I have been treated like something of a celebrity on the NewBeetle.org forums and chat sessions. I'm pleased to accept their assistance and am looking forward to the added support we hope arrives when we introduce our 'get your name on the Bug' campaign (for a minimum contribution a fan will get their name on the StudBug rally car and also listed on the RealAutoSport.com home page). The SCCA ProRally Championship is the nation’s only performance rally series with uniquely varied venues coast-to-coast. Teams compete flat-out for hundreds of miles over closed-to-the-public forestry roads separated into a series of special stages. A codriver warns the driver of jumps, dangerous turns, exposures and other obstacles thanks to computer generated "stage notes" and a hundredth reading odometer. All events are televised on the Speed Channel (http://www.speedtv.com/).
